my son is a genius

i'm assuming all parents think their kids are smart, but my three year old can write!! :) i mean seriously, that's awesome! notice in the first picture that his butt is covered in chalkdust. (and notice how largely he writes MOM). no.....he doesn't call his daddy, tim, but apparently he decided tim was easier to write. look at that sweet face in the last picture! he was so excited and proud! :)

jude's teacher, miss cathy, deserves all the credit for jude's ability to write. he's been going to her house since he was 10 months old and she teaches lessons every day. he's really learned alot over there and i'm very thankful to have found such a good environment for him to be in while i'm at work.

Clone Wars Rocked

Today the family and I went to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars. My soon-to-be three year old son has been obsessed with Star Wars since he was 18 months old. He knows every character ever in a SW movie, owns and plays all of the Lego Star Wars PS2 games, has a closet full of Star Wars shirts and toys. Needless to say, this movie was highly anticipated.

The theater was strangely empty. Possibly 5 families total ... which is sort of what we hoped for. No loud kids, or parents to have to contend with. Really nice.

The movie was everything we hoped it would be. Action packed and amazingly animated. Just enough to peak my son's excitement of Star Wars all over again. Just in time for his October Star Wars themed birthday party! The boost we needed to make sure he didn't change his mind about the theme of his party right before planning started.

My daughter, Darby, starts 6th grade tomorrow morning. I'm very excited for her to start this year. She'll be playing Clarinet in the band this year, and I'm really anxious to see how she'll like it. She's always been an extremely musical child. Able to pick out songs on her keyboard and could always sing every word to EVERY song. She loves to go see musicals anytime one comes to town. We've seen Beauty and the Beast, The King and I, and Annie so far. I think a dream trip for her would be a trip to Broadway. Maybe for her 13th birthday? Hmmm.

This was a lengthy second post. We'll just say I'm getting my blog-legs.

maiden journey into blogdom

I'm a lurker of blogs... food blogs, photography blogs ... I can't get enough. So finally I've decided to start my own. I might not tell anyone I have it until I get the hang of it all. I'd like a place to make note of all the events of my life. A good record of my children's past that someday they'll enjoy reading. If I pick up a few lurkers in the meantime, that's fine too.
